hey whats up bryan

my name's khailee. i was there last year to help organize it.

for last year... It's true that with the range / timing of all the different activities, different people did take home a different experience... :)

So, I really gave some thought about what you said, and I brought it up with the team.

Guess what.

Based on your feedback...

This year, i got the team to improve the arrangement, floor plan, and mix of activities, neatly organized into separate festivals... and added 3 days worth of conferences in a dedicated space at the hall, too.

So, if anyone wants to dive into a specific side of malaysian youth culture, all they have to do is choose the timing of where, what etc... a guide is being put up on http://theyouthfestival.com

There's also a more diverse crowd coming... other states to bring down youths from outside KL... YOUTH'10 will be even more diverse!

Not sure if you're up for it, but if you're thinking of coming, or have more feedback, or maybe you want to join the YOUTH'10 team? Hehe.

I left my personal email in this comment form, drop me an email :)))

And thanks again for the feedback.

i feel u, actually you dont even need to explain. everyone knows there is rather unpleasant people in all races. for safety reasons, some will leave the place. i probably would leave if i am alone "if" i feel uncomfortable.

anyways, shouldn't blame it on the race but the people themselves. maybe people are offended because it was implied to races rather then the different type of people. everyone should not be offended, there is always a freedom of speech. Do share opinions and make things right peacefully.

being here in overseas, i came across many unpleasant faces sometimes. not everyone is open up. that's the only problem only. probably some trouble in managing different cultures.

second you Bryan. Quoting RPK, "Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one". Like what ever lar what others want to say. If you wanted to be racist, you'd already posted 'more' razor sharp statements to cut them concerned. It was the situation at that time what.. I'd say the same thing too. What every the race la, people get rowdy when in groups. But thanks to some figures, we now know that 60% of the population are Malays, hence making them the largest ethnic group of all. And what does that tell you? Go figure.

Don't get offended if you've somehow been generalized. Haven't we all, at some point of our lives? Sure, say the Chinese gamble, drink, are Ah Longs, have mistresses, sell pirated VCDs, and all that. I'm Chinese but i don't do any of that, neither am i offended, because, it is true. There are people doing those sorta stuff, and they are Chinese.

So what if most of them were Malays at Youth 09? They were rowdy, that's all. If anything at all, i have more Malay friends then Chinese. IF the Chinese were majority at Penang's Xmas Eve "spray-the-window-rock-the-car" incident, people would also say the same thing. They were rowdy, and therefore their behavior is unacceptable.

And that we must acknowledge. Its time we to do something about it. Moral fiber amongst youths of all races in the 21st century is deteriorating. Stop all this about racism lar. Know that we have come 51 years and racism is the thing of the past. We must talk about this like level headed, matured beings.

Take care everyone, have a fruitful 2009 ahead.

I like your pic.
And I do agree with some of us that thinks this post sounds racist. May I suggest some thing like 'It's more like one of those so-called big carnival/roadshow (Karnival Sure Heboh anyone?) rather than a proper youth convention'
>__<
There are some hidden gems like clarisse said (and totally agree with her)
The plasterdoll works are a-doll-able!!

Yeah, it is a very racist post. agreeing with David here. just saying it as it is ya know.
And honestly I really really had a lot of fun there.
There were some good performances too ya know, like annex(i think it was spelled that way) and revolver.
And the art was SO creative. Photograph section was really adorable with pictures everywhere.
The dancers were chinese. . .
The clothes were AWESOMELY cheap! and yeah.
I guess you missed out on a lot just because you thought that Malays were there.

broaden your horizons little one

However all this goes both ways. There is always a minority that believe in living peacefully together. We shall grow that kind of population ^^

Many of us are racist are due to some traditional whatever race playing gangster with other race. I got treated badly/bad service by Malays before, especially in restaurants (f**k kenny rogers) or malay towns, but i do believe not all are like that?

I wonder if the nurse or doctor who help deliver you when you were born is a Malay. If that is true, then why not you just go and jump down from KL Tower the next moment you read this comment of mine. Or maybe, if the sweeper is Malay, don't walk that road. Oh, the car you are driving (most prob Proton) is fixed by Malays, DON'T Sit! Wait, most imported cars goes through Port Klang and they are handled by Malay forwarders or port handlers. Hey, Don't drive them or even buy them!

What I read from this post is stupid one sided view towards Youth '09. The country can never develop with human with such mindset such as yours! I pity the future of my very own country for your existence.

Hi i was there too. I understand your sentiment. Maybe the way u put it was a lil bit harsh. It was more of like the the sure heboh thingy rather than a youth convention going on. Maybe the placement of the each program was not properly done thus all the confusion occured. I pity those community fellas as they were palced at teh worst possible corner. I think only 2% of the total visitors actually walked there.
