Petronas has launched its CNY festive commercial with this year’s title being ‘Coming Home‘. Shot in Malaysia, England, Belgium, China and India; it tells the tale of six individuals who have come far in life but are still true to their roots.

“For centuries, mankind have migrated from one place to another, in hopes of finding better opportunities. But no matter where they are, or how far they have come in life, they will always come home. This Chinese New Year, let’s celebrate the virtues that bind us all together — the spirit of resilience, determination and adaptability in turning challenges into opportunities and seeing the positive in the negative.“

Among others, the stories revolve around a dentist in India celebrating the new year with his family in his home country via Skype, and a young woman forced to celebrate the festival while working two jobs to make ends meet in London.

The story of the young Chinese girl in London celebrates the Lunar New Year with the customers she serves, is arguably the most heart warming of the bunch! The feeling of ‘coming home’ to your loved ones on special occasions is like no other, as many who will be battling the horrific traffic to reach their respective destinations this upcoming holiday weekend can attest to. In that regard, ‘Coming Home’ encapsulates the very core of any holiday season which is the simple warmth of home.

This Petronas commercial was actually being released during their launch event held in KLCC just few days ago.

Petronas Group Senior General Manager Corporate Affairs Division, Datuk Mohammad Medan Abdullah said this year’s commercial would bring a breath of fresh air into Petronas’ approach to the festive campaign.

“We have moved away from the narrative approach that we had adopted in our past commercials and this time, we want viewers to understand the underlying messages through visual poetry. TVC also incorporates the spirit of perseverance, adaptability and determination captured in each of the stories. This energy is something that should inspire us all as we navigate through life.“

In line with its TVC, a photography contest themed ‘Reimagining Energy’, in collaboration with Leica Camera AG is also ongoing. Contestants have the chance to win exciting cash prizes and have their photographs exhibited at Galeri Petronas in KLCC. All YOU have to do is to submit snapshots of Chinese New Year celebrations that best portray the spirit of ‘Reimagining Energy’.

Wong Fu Productions (WFP) will be visiting Malaysia on February 4th, 2012 @ Taylor’s University as part of their WFP Southeast Asia Tour!

Like seriously… If you don’t know them, you should go check out WongFuProductions YouTube channel and their videos will self-explain to you on why are they such a hype all around. The WFP founders – Wesley Chan, Ted Fu and Philip Wang have been making viral videos since 2003, before the start of YouTube. They’re a rising independent production company that has been at the forefront as an influential pioneer in utilizing new media distribution and creating projects with a positive message. They have been featured at a number of national and international film festivals, including the Cannes Film Festival. They now have millions of fan base across the United States as well as around the world, working full-time creating online content, designing their own merchandises, and producing with other companies and artists with the recent being international pop star, Wang Lee Hom.

Who knows you might be able to win some tickets here on my blog as well? Yeahh, who knows right…

I used to collect different types of pen back then, ranging from different brands, different colour, different sizes and tip, etc. I don’t want to be writing with just any old pen and I utilize different pens for different purposes, which also makes my writing note looked more organized and easier to read. It was a vital part of my schooling / university life. However, we’re now very much immersed into the digital era that many of us no longer use pen to write our stuff anymore. Even in my university, our assignments are all computer-print based which doesn’t involve writing with pen. Nevertheless, I still made use of my pens to write additional notes on my printed materials anyway. It is important for me to have a pen that suits the purpose, feels good in my hands, writes like a dream…

I have my favourite brands when it comes to buying pen; Paper Mate is one of them. Remember those Kilometrico ballpens? Those are pretty darn cheap yet long-lasting man! Back then it used to be like what, 50-80 cents each? It was quite value for money and because of Kilometrico ballpen, Paper Mate had gained my trust and reliability when deciding which pen to bring into the examination hall during test, which pen to recommend friends to buy, which pen to use for drawing and so forth.

And just recently, I had received a bundle of Paper Mate InkJoy pens to tryout! If I was still in high school, I would have cried to joy receiving so many pens with different colours for my own usage! Really… I really love having to see new pens in my stationary case, it gives me a sense of INKJOYfulness; don’t you too? :’)

The beautiful colours of Paper Mate InkJoy with different sizes – this is a new product line from PaperMate which are designed to be a lot smoother to write with than your standard ballpoint pen.

Although I have been a huge fan of PaperMate Kilometrico pens, I still wasn’t completely satisfied with the way it sits in the hand; it’s kinda skinny (like me lol) to be a truly comfortable pen to use. Especially during school exams, I would struggle a little with the Kilometrico because I’ll get a ‘pen mark’ on my fingers after using it non-stop for a few hours writing essays. Don’t get me wrong, they’re one of the best, affordable, long-lasting pens I have used! But fret not, I think PaperMate acknowledged the issue and their latest PaperMate InkJoy range eliminates that problem! InkJoy is a new inking system that mixes “optimized writing tips” with “ultra-low viscosity inks”. It is a great little pen, cheap and cheerful with a range of colours to satisfy any pen enthusiasts. It glides across the page without leaving messy blobs of ink, require less pressure to write with and is comfortable enough to use when writing.

After using these pens for quite some time, I conclude that I do quite like these Paper Mate InkJoy pens and would recommend anyone who often uses ballpoints to give them a try. Probably you could get the InkJoy 100 if you see one; if you like it, pick up the InkJoy 300 or InkJoy 700 as your everyday pen because I think you’d like them if InkJoy 100 is your choice. My personal favourite? PaperMate InkJoy 300 RT because it has variety of colours that would make my notes much more interesting and JOYful!
