The Japanese Restaurant is a great location; being situated on the 10th floor of Sunway Putra Hotel, it provides a stunning view of Kuala Lumpur’s skyline in its avant-garde restaurant setting. Sushi and sashimi were plated beautifully, the hot dishes were pretty much fusion-nisque as I don’t think they’re all Japanese cuisine, Teppanyaki section was good as you get to pick out the ingredients you want and let the chef do the ‘dirty’ work for you, and they have pretty good selection of fruits, cakes and ice-cream at the dessert section. I didn’t try the cold section though, with the cold soba, udon n other cold dishes, not really a fan of it.

So yeah, that’s basically the whole idea of this 12-hour marathon buffet. I was one of the lucky bloggers to experience it and damnnnn, I was pretty satisfied with the food variety offered @ Atrium Cafe. Bang for bucks!

The food was pretty good, love the cakes and dessert! Oh did I mention that I also tried out for the wan tan eating challenge? We were served with 200 wantans for those participating in the challenge that day (7 bloggers)! Well, obviously we didn’t finish all 200 lah lol.

So after our breakfast+lunch, we had a mini pampering massage session for all the bloggers and some of us went on a ‘retail therapy’ shopping walk with the Sunway Pyramid vouchers given to us on that day. We came back for another round of makan later on and headed straight to Sunway Lagoon Extreme Park for Go-Kart session!

Those who have not tried out Go-Kart, you should go to Sunway Lagoon Extreme Park to try it out. Why? Because the kart cannot speed wan!! It’s a ‘joy-ride go kart’ instead of a ‘racing g0 kart’. If you’re a first-timer, then suitable for you la. For those looking for adrenaline rush, please look elsewhere… try the bungy jump instead or other exciting stuff offered at the Sunway Lagoon Extreme Park.

After our day out at Sunway Lagoon, we went back to Atrium Cafe and had our dinner there as well. Some of us did not stay until supper (like me) so we kinda missed out on some new dishes offered at night. Oh forgot to mention, they replenish the dishes for lunch and dinner. Thus, don’t worry if you think that you’re gonna be eating the same thing for breakfast, brunch, lunch, hi-tea, dinner, supper.

The place looks pretty good and of course we were served with a variety of food choices in their buffet line. I was too hungry and went ahead grabbing as much food as I could that night and there were few pretty good dishes served in the line! I almost forgotten that we were going to have 11 different types of cakes and desserts after our buffet dinner so by the time I was finished and I saw the cakes being served, my expression was -> :O ‘oh no, i ate a little too much earlier’.

But anyway the cakes were very nice and there wasn’t any much problem finishing the cakes especially when it’s delicious!

I love this cake above! Petit Antone – if you like the taste of Ferrero Rocher chocolate, you’ll like this cake because it tasted almost similar! Their Red Velvet cake is also pretty good but I’ve tasted better somewhere else. As for the rest of the cakes, some were pretty good for me but some were just not up to par. It’s either a little dry for my liking (i like moist cakes lol) or something else. But overall, I went back home as a happy kid cos I love desserts & cakes and I got to try out 11 different varieties of cakes in a night!

The cakes are priced at RM12++ per slice / RM90++ for the whole cake; however they are having this Deli counter special offer where you can get a 50% discount on ALL breads & cakes at the counter from 3.00pm onwards daily. Thus, make your way to Cinnamon Coffee House @ One World Hotel for your hi-tea session after few rounds of shopping at the mall! Overall, the food was pretty unique and tasty as they prepared some of the dishes in a different way than the conventional japanese cuisine; some had unique ingredients in it such as coffee in the curry and so on, the sashimi are freshly shipped twice a week (Tues & Fri), salmon fish being imported from Norway, Nishiki rice were used in their sushi and processed with Evian water, their Ebi Tempura prawns are BIG (twice or maybe more the size of the usual prawn you get in jap restaurants), even their ice creams are imported from Japan, etc..

Had a long 4 hours+ lunch on that day and our stomach were fulfilled with loads of japanese happiness. If you are planning to dine at Mikan Japanese Restaurant, just call them for reservation and they’ll provide you with free parking spot right in front of the restaurant!

OPPS CHEESE TART expanded their franchise by opening their 1st branch in Kuala Lumpur city. Apart from Pavilion KL, the only places you can find them are in Malacca and Johor. Their Pavilion KL branch is situated at the lowest floor near the supermarket (nearby J.Co, Cupcake Chic, etc.)

They had 12 different variety of flavours for their cheese tarts. Since it was complimentary for me, I didn’t get to choose my desired flavours and had to accept what they gave me in the box lol.

Didn’t particularly like the Black Sesame flavour but the rest of the flavour i got is fine. The cheese tarts are of premium quality as told by them and indeed, they are pretty good i would say. I wouldn’t say it’s the best cheese tarts but it’s one of the good ones I’ve tried. It’s not too sweet, the texture is smooth and it sorta ‘melts’ in your mouth lol. It says they are best served cold though, so you might wanna place it in the refrigerator beforehand.

Tony Sabastian, Executive Assistant Manager of Holiday Villa Subang decided to narrow down their extensive selection of Valentine’s menu and make it into a four course meal for us. The dinner set consists of Chinese & Italian fusion from two of their finest in-house restaurants namely The Inn of Four Seasons Chinese Restaurant and CIBO Ristorante Italiano.

We were served with this appetizer named Grilled Unagi Onigiri with Scallop and Fish Paste Coated with Alamon Flake served with Yuzu Orange Wasabe Mayo. The Unagi Onigiri and the Alamon Falke coated Fish Paste was fine but I didn’t really fancy the Yuzu Orange Wasabe Mayo though

Next in line was the Double Boiled Chinese Style Chicken Broth served with Kumomoto Oyster and Lychee Jam. The chicken broth soup tasted good but the Lychee Jam on the Oyster was just abit odd for me (the lychee jam tasted a little spicy too, like whaat? lychee, jam, spicy?) Thus, I scrapped off the lychee jam and ate the oyster alone.

Finally the main course arrived. The Beef Medaglione al Forno topped with Mushroom Ragout, Reduction of Berries Balsamice and Raisin Bordelaise Sauce was pretty good. The meat was tender and went well with the Raisin Bordelaise Sauce. At least I was satisfied with this dish

Then came our dessert of the day, Chocolate Cheese Mousse and Strawberry Dipped served with Caramelized Granny Smith Apple. To be honest, there’s not much to shout about this dessert. It was just… okay

The person who made all the dishes possible for us to makan that night – Chef Azram!

Was invited for ROBOT SUSHI grand opening launch @ Sunway Pyramid earlier today.

If you’re looking for a Japanese restaurant with a little bit more raw and contemporary feel, this is the place to go. The new urban and chic Japanese restaurant opens in Sunway Pyramid and it offers unique range of unique fusion sushi rolls and dishes.

They avoided the typical ambience of a Japanese restaurant and broadcasted tunes from house music to R&B Pop and more… with the DJ spinning (i’m not sure it’s spinning every night or what though)

:: Drinks ::

Fruit juice, green tea, sake, etc.. They even offer a wide selection of cocktails & mocktails and a respected selection of beers, whiskeys and vodkas on the Robot Sushi bar.

:: Food ::

Appetizers has interesting names such as Avatar, Eelectric and Cosmo rolls (however i didn’t get to try it so wouldn’t know how it tastes like). Apparently the Yakitori Black Pepper Chicken is a house speciality and a definite must-try as well as the Salmon Garlic Fried Rice along with Saba Shioyaki – fresh mackerel slow-grilled to a crisp and drizzled in Teriyaki sauce.

Any of you tried out Gelatomio?

If you haven’t, you SHOULD!

Quality has been the priority in making all these gelato. They are made out of good recipe + high quality ingredients; which means they do not jeopardise it to save cost on the raw ingredients and had always been concerned about catering for different individual’s tastes.

Thanks to Mei Ying for the invitation, some of us were invited for a tasting session @ Gelatomio, Pavilion KL. Of course, this would not have been possible without the man who started Gelatomio in Malaysia, Mr. Massimo Minecci himself!

We managed to try various selection from the lounge, one of them is the Gelatomio On The Rock:

Macadamia & Double Chocolate gelato with Oreos, chocolate crisps & chocolate chips

Strawberry Cheesecake + Blueberry Cheesecake gelato with apple pie fillings, figs & chocolate chunks

And this alcoholic gelato – Rum & Raisins, Orange Cointreau + Crunch & Rum

Gelatomio carries more than 50 various flavour selections and are made 100% from natural ingredients. The milk based ice cream averages on 95% fat-free while the water based ice cream is 99% fat free.

He supplies to approximately 70 major hotels and restaurants in KL which includes Shangri-La, Le Meridien, Pan Pacific, Prince Hotel, Hilton, G Hotel, chinoz and espressamente… You know some of those japanese restaurants in hotels and buffet places? Some of those in-house ice cream  were supplied by him as well!

You should pay them a visit someday, try them out instead of the usual Haagen-Dazs and Baskin Robbins
