Not sure if you’ve read my past post regarding Petronas CNY event? I did mention that in line with its TVC as shown below, a photography contest themed ‘Reimagining Energy’, in collaboration with Leica Camera AG is also ongoing.

Back to the contest… Contestants have the chance to win exciting cash prizes and have their photographs exhibited at Galeri Petronas in KLCC. All YOU have to do is to submit snapshots of Chinese New Year celebrations that best portray the spirit of ‘Reimagining Energy’.

The picture was actually taken during last year’s Chinese New Year, where I spotted a dragon dance troupe and I happen to have my camera with me. Took some snapshots here and there, who knew that I would be able to use one of the pictures I had taken for this Petronas CNY Photography contest? It suits the theme pretty well I’d say!

I now realized the limitations of using an old entry level DSLR camera. Every camera you see in the market nowadays seem to have drastically improved that if you compare the latest DSLR camera Sony / Canon / Nikon is having with the one I’m using right now, it’s like David & Goliath damnit. Technology advances too quickly!

Shooting without flash at 1/20 f/2.8 ISO3200 under low lighting is seriously disastrous (my camera’s highest ISO limit is only 3200 and it gets grainy & noisy even at ISO800! unlike any other latest camera where their highest ISO limit is reachable up to ISO12800 lol pfft!)

Anyway these pictures were from Saturday night’s music gig. Probably one of the rare times i turned my pictures into grayscale not because i wanted to, but i had to…

So after complaining about my camera’s limitations, does anyone still wanna buy my camera? I desperately wanna sell it as soon as possible sigh!

One fine day, I brought Danbo back home and introduced it to the real world.

Eventually, I did not have much time to play around with it and Danbo was being lonely ever since I brought him back.

He wanted a new owner but I didn’t have the time to find Danbo a new owner also. Thus, he hesitated…

… and attempted to jump down from the top of the building tupperware!! :O

HELP?!

Hahaha, okay straight to the point… I have a mini Danbo for sale, it was shipped all the way from Japan (not available in Malaysia retail stores). Since it’s being underused, I wanna get some money back hehe.

Let me know if you’re interested? Don’t let Danbo jump down from the tupperware, please? Rescue him! Lawl.

Phewww had a long day. Went to many places – Shah Alam, i-City, KLCC, Dataran Merdeka, Petaling Street, etc… Basically we toured around KL & Selangor woots! It’s for some video shooting which is due this Friday! Last minute, i know… Blame all the college workload that now we have not even finished filming our video yet haha. Tomorrow gonna do some final shoot again.

What video are we doing? For what purpose? Will be revealed in the near future when the time is suitable lolol.

In the meantime… if there’s anyone interested to hire us (freelance photographer + videographer), feel free to contact me! Probably we could work out something depending on schedule

I’m writing this in order to help/show any future Royal Carribean’s Legend of the Seas passengers on what they’re gonna expect on the cruise ship before boarding

But first, I’ll write on what i experience onboard before this.

Basically the whole cruise trip program was about…

Ballroom dance..

Salsa dance..

Hip-hop dance..

Zouk dance..

and more dance, dance, DANCE!!

There’s salsa, hip hop, zouk, west coast swing, ballroom, latin, and many more… All types of dance performances and workshops on the cruise ship itself!

Most of the time, i hung around with these people below (3 of the girls are interns from my college lol!)

The cruise also stopped by a few places… This picture below was when we’re stopping by Phuket. The seashore was too shallow for the large cruise ship to sail through, thus we need to board a smaller boat to get over to Phuket, Thailand.

So yeah… Let me show you around the cruise ship!

At the same spa deck place, there’s this Pizza & Burger Bar… They serve pizzas, burgers, sausages, and any other snacks you can find there! Most of the time when i’m hungry, i’ll just come by this bar and have my light meal lol.

Ohh i forgot to take a picture of the ice cream machine, but yeah they had this machine which looks similar to McDonald’s ice cream machine! Self-service free flow ice cream cones! Somehow the ice cream tasted nicer! I miss the chocolate ice cream onboard! It’s a MUST try ice cream if you’re onboard hahaha!

Anyway this is the outside of spa deck (which is at the back of the cruise ship)

And on top of the outdoor spa deck, they have this rock climbing wall

Beside the rock climbing wall, they also have a miniature golf course

Apart from that, there are many other facilities on the cruise ship such as…

Gymnasium

Table tennis table

24 hours internet place for you to check stuff online (you need to pay, and it’s quite expensive)

Casino! Hahah this casino, underage people like me can go in lol!

The cruise ship has this ‘shopping area’ where some of the stuff are duty free! But can’t be brought out of the ship (especially liquor and so on)

We usually have our dinner at this fine dining restaurant called Romeo and Juliet (the food is not bad! depending on what you order from the list of daily set menu)

Oh when you’re dining at Romeo and Juliet, make sure you lookout for this waiter! (his name is Dwi) Sit at his serving table! You’ll not regret! Extra entertainment hahaha

And for you GIRLS who’ve not seen a urinal, here it is lol… Save you from being embarrassed trying to sneak into male toilet haha

And this is the corridor towards my room which is right at the end hahaha! Quite spooky if you’re walking alone at night hehe

I have to thank Dance Cruise Asia for providing me an expensive experience (despite the seasick i had during the first two days which was blerghh -.-)

CMOS sensor! No more CCD sensor that my current camera has! +1

Woots 7fps! Can shoot sports photography liao lolol! +1

3″ tilt-angle Xtra Fine LCD! Means no more: “Aiyah, how come just now i see on my camera, the photo looked damn sharp but now transfer to computer the photo blur blur wan?”
*Trust me, i get this kinda situation alot of times ahaha +1

ISO up to 12800! Means the ISO performance should be much much better than! Low light photography without flash, CHUN! ahaha +1

Face detection feature! Means i won’t accidentally focus ‘wrong’ part of the body already +1

Now if you compare Sony Alpha A550 with Nikon D90, A550′s specs is a great challenger to Nikon D90 and it won over D90 in a lot of aspects (EXCEPT for the HD video feature which i’m kinda disappointed Sony didn’t include it). You try compare and see? At least it’s good enough for me la, better than my current camera

It’s a decent upgrade if you’re using an A200/A300/A350 previously (like me), but i don’t think it’s wise for A700 users to buy A500/A550 lor (=

Sony Alpha DSLR-A850

- Full-frame 24.6 megapixel Exmor™ CMOS sensor
- Dual BIONZ processor

Basically, the Sony Alpha A850 would be considered as the cheaper alternative to Sony Alpha A900 Full Frame DSLR. Although i wouldn’t have the money to afford this camera, the offer is good thou because it’s cheaper than the A900! What’s more? The A850 is bundled with a 28-75mm f/2.8 as a kit lens! Nice right?
The retail price for Malaysia is not out yet, but it’s definitely cheaper than the A900 but with lesser fps and so on so fourth laa.
